Register as a professional on PetBase
We would like to help shelters and foundations save costs. At PetBase you register up to 200 animals free of charge in the name of the shelter or foundation! Fees are only charged when a pet is transferred into the name of the new owner. You save time by using PetPoints and the PetBase registration system is simple and effective so registrations are done within a minute. You can do the registrations via our website, but also directly from more and more management software such as Docasoft.
With a registration on PetBase, you are sure of a safe registration and the animal can also be traced abroad through our connection with Europetnet. You make it very easy and economical for the new owner to manage their animal(s) through a PetBase account. Indeed, should the owner move or change phone number, changing these data is completely free of charge for the owner.
Shelter and no notifying authority yet?
The account holder is always the first user and also the first holder. Do not change this to avoid failures. Now proceed to assign roles to the other users in your organisation. If one of your users is a recognised chipper or a paraveterinarian with a chip number or CIBG, he or she may order and stock chips. Issuing Europese dierenpaspoorten is only allowed to a veterinarian. So please enter his or her CIBG when adding the veterinarian. To order chips and/or passports, you must also log in from the relevant role in the webshop.
No registrations are ever simply removed from our database. As a shelter or foundation, you yourself can put these animals on your name and/or professional PetBase account. See the explanation on our support page Binnenkomst nieuw dier in het opvangcentrum. PetBase allows you to register up to 200 animals for free in the name of your shelter or foundation. Only when the animal is placed, the costs are charged (in PetPoints).
For a change of name or transfer to another owner, the new owner himself always needs the form number/registration number. This number can very easily be requested by the registered owner using his or her email address. How that works is in this veelgestelde vragen onder Eigenaar.
Registrations on PetBase
It is important for reunification in case of a missing animal that an animal is registered in the correct name and address. As a shelter, you can transfer an animal from your name, to the new owner's name. This transfer costs 1 PetPoint. To do this, create the new owner as keeper-owner and by means of a complete animal registration, register the animal in the name of the owner. In the Snelstart voor Dierenopvangcentra you can read step by step how to register an animal in the new owner's name.
If a dog's chip number, animal species or date of birth are entered incorrectly, this cannot be changed just like that. The registration must be withdrawn, you can then re-register with the correct data. However, the non-pedigree data can be modified via the animal's card. See also the explanation on our support page Help I made a mistake, how do I fix it?
It occasionally happens that a chip does not work, falls out of the animal shortly after application or cannot be read (anymore) for other reasons. The registration of the second chip is linked to the registration of the first chip. Placing a new chip and processing this on PetBase can only be done by a vet for a dog and for a non-dog also by a recognised chipper be done. PetBase makes this very easy for you. Request the already registered chip in the My PetBase environment. Choose ‘Actions’ and then ‘Replace/add chip’. Fill in the details and press ‘Save’. No, not all animals have this obligation. The obligation for 528 numbers applies to dogs and horses.

In the United States, among others, the FDX-A chip number is often used. An FDX-A chip number has a code of 10 characters long and usually consists of 9 digits and 1 letter. In Europe, FDX-B chip numbers are always used for pets. These chip numbers are built up in a fixed way. They always consist of 15 digits. The first three digits are either a manufacturer number or a country code. Manufacturer numbers always start with a 9, for example 945 for FiveStar transponders.
The ISO-standards 11784/85 together form the standard for electronic animal identification. ISO 11784 determines the number structure (15-digits, the first 3 are a manufacturer’s or country code). ISO 11785 describes the technical concept of the microchips. All chips sold by PetBase/Micpoint BV comply with these standards.
