Apply for animal passports at PetBase
Since 29 December 2014 there are new rules regarding the preparation of an animal passport. As veterinarians, you can now exclusively prepare and issue the European animal passport. Once animal owners have completed the necessary details and the relevant pages have been laminated, the animal passport is approved. It is no longer allowed to issue blank passports to breeders, for example. As a registered veterinarian affiliated with PetBase, you can easily order the desired number of passports via the webshop. Moreover, the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) has approved the passport. Pet passport with barcode!
At PetBase, we now include a barcode sticker sheet with every pet passport as standard. Instead of the barcode being printed directly in the passport, as was previously the case, you now receive a sheet with 50 separate barcode stickers. This complies with the latest regulations, ensuring each passport can still be registered easily and correctly.
Using the stickers is simple: place the correct barcode on the back of the passport, making sure the number matches the corresponding passport. This prevents administrative errors and ensures each passport can be processed efficiently. The passport number on the front must always remain clearly visible.

FAQ
If you enter a Dutch passport number during Complete animal registration, you will automatically be asked if PetBase should report this to the government. If you only want to report a passport and the animal was already registered with PetBase, please read here further.
So be sure to select a veterinarian as the identifier to make the passport delivery to RFO.
Registering a passport without registration with PetBase is very easy. For example, when a replacement passport is issued. As a veterinarian, you sometimes want to be able to add a passport without registration-for-reunion. But also for dogs that have been microchipped by Raad van Beheer, you can choose to issue only a passport.
Follow the steps below to apply for a passport without registering with PetBase:
- 1) Log in to your PetBase account
- 2) Click on "Holder owners.
- 3) Click on "+New/Search.
- 4) Click on the holder's client card
- 5) Click on 'Issue new passport'
- 6) Click on "+New.
7) Fill in the data and click 'Save'
